Spring 2019 Newsletter
Happy Spring Everyone!
I can hardly believe that the school year is nearly over. Our students and staff have worked hard to use this time well. In just about a month, many of our Seniors will don their cap and gown and school board members like me will proudly watch and applaud their accomplishments. An FCPS education provides a doorway to many adventures ahead.
I also had the pleasure of meeting our new school representative on the Board. As in the past, we have a student representative who is elected by the student body. This representative sits in our meetings and provides invaluable insight into the student experience as the Board considers policy for FCPS. I want to thank our current School Board Representative, Benjamin Tignor, a Senior at South Lakes High School, who has attended many late night Board meetings and visited schools across the region to make sure that FCPS student voices are heard. Soon, our new representative, Kimberly Boateng, a Sophomore at Lee High School will take the reins. I’m excited to work with Kimberly to collaborate as she has pledged to address student concerns in our discipline policies.
I’ve listed just a few of the events coming up in our system below. I have also set up my next office hours. I cherish the opportunity to hear from my neighbors and look forward to seeing you there. Lastly, I have included artwork from the Woodson High School Annual Pyramid Art Show. This Art show featured work from students from the pyramid from Elementary to High School. It’s just one of such events that have been held around the county. We have amazing students who are academically strong, athletic, and talented in the arts, music and so much more. Enjoy this sampling of the Art!
