Lawn Irrigation Limits In Effect Through September 15

To comply with the Illinois Department of Natural Resources, lawn irrigation is limited in Evanston May 15 through September 15. Odd-numbered addresses can water on odd days; even-numbered addresses can water on even days. No watering is allowed on any day from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Garden watering is exempt.

Wet Spring Delays Alley Maintenance, Street Repairs

Due to spring rainfall, Public Works crews are currently operating approximately one week behind the City’s 2019 alley maintenance schedule, as the heavy equipment used to grade alleys requires dry conditions to operate. Crews are working to catch up as conditions improve.

Reminder On Leaf Blower Restrictions

In an effort to reduce noise pollution, the City reminds residents that backpack-mounted or handheld gasoline-powered leaf blowers are not allowed for use May 16 through September 29. Blowing or raking leaves into the street can cause flooding and block sewers. Learn more about yard waste collection.
