The Office of Out of School Time Grants and Youth Outcomes (OST Office) is currently accepting applications for the Fiscal Year 2024 Out of School Time Grant Competitions. These grant competitions invite high-performing, fiscally responsible, nonprofits that focus on child and youth development and serve school aged children and youth with OST programs to apply. Organizations applying must serve children and youth with a positive youth development approach. Grant funds may only be used to serve children and youth who reside within the District of Columbia.

The Commission on Out of School Time Grants and Youth Outcomes (OST Commission) will hold a virtual public meeting on Thursday, June 22, 2023, from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm. The OST Commission will hear updates from the Office of Out of School Time Grants and Youth Outcomes, and the OST Commission Committees.
Individuals and representatives of organizations who wish to comment at a public meeting are asked to notify the OST Office in advance by email at learn24@dc.gov. Individuals should furnish their names, addresses, telephone numbers, and organizational affiliation, if any, and if available, submit one electronic copy of their testimony by the close of business on Tuesday, June 20th at 5:00 pm.

The OST Office is forming a Learn24 Community Advisory Network to ensure the OST Office is being receptive and considering the needs of the community. The Learn24 Community Advisory Network will be a diverse set of stakeholders that have a strong interest in promoting community engagement, collaboration, and inclusivity in the services offered by the OST Office.

Daughters Overcoming Life's Lessons (D.O.L.L.S) & DREAMS INC offers four different types of programs for youth ages 7- 21. The programs include DREAMERS, DREAM CATCHERS, #KINGS, and The Dream Academy. The programs are designed to meet the needs of youth based on their age and support them in achieving their goals by providing a curriculum that focus on socio-emotional learning, education and emotional support, life skills and more.

On Saturday, August 19, 2023, Fight For Children will host a free event that will be fun for the entire family! Come learn about afterschool programs that integrate sports with mentoring, social-emotional learning, academic tutoring, civic engagement and more. This event will take place at the The Fields at RFK and will feature sports activities, games and prizes, music, special guest and food trucks. More information can be found here.
The OST Youth Scholarship Program is a new program, managed by the Greater Washington Community Foundation, with the goal of increasing access to OST programs for students with specific needs. Specifically, the program will support students who may be identified as at-risk. Examples of programs that the scholarship may support include, but are not limited to, programs designed specifically for students with disabilities, advanced learners, and English Language Learners. Individuals not considered at-risk may also be eligible to receive a scholarship based on need and availability of funding. Scholarships of up to $10,000 are available for individual students for use in approved OST activities in calendar year 2023.

DC Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) announced that applications are also now being accepted for DPR’s Rec for ALL Community Grants to support programs, activities, and events for young District residents. These grants will empower community-based organizations to engage youth ages 6-18 through recreation with an emphasis on those with barriers to access. The $3 million investment is expected to support at least 250 grants that will reach over 10,000 DC youth. Rec for ALL Grants include:

Support Grants – Up to $5,000 that can be used to purchase equipment, supplies, or materials for existing programs.

Engagement Grants – Up to $10,000 to support field trips and other enrichment activities.

Event and Travel Grants – Up to $10,000 to provide travel to athletic competitions for youth groups.

Programming Grants – Up to $150,000 in funding geared toward established organizations to fund the expansion of new or existing recurring programs.

The Classics for Kids Foundation provides grants to schools and nonprofit organizations to strengthen music education and string instrument programs. Grants are designed to forge strong local connections between students, families, and communities. The deadline to apply is Friday, June 30, 2023. The Morris and Gwendolyn Cafritz Foundation is accepting grant applications from nonprofit organizations that serve residents of the Washington, DC metropolitan area in the following program areas: Arts and Humanities, Community Services, Education, Health and the Environment. The National Endowment for the Arts is currently accepting applications from nonprofit organizations that support public engagement with, and access to, various forms of art across the nation. Grants of up to $100,000 will be awarded to selected organizations. The deadline to apply is Thursday, July 6, 2023. The Events DC Community Grant Program provides financial support to qualified nonprofit organizations dedicated to supporting children through sports, performing arts, or cultural arts in the District of Columbia.
