Project Updates
We are excited to share some big news! The eFORT Relocation Project team successfully migrated DOLA and DORA’s servers, hardware and applications out of eFORT on March 11. DNR and CDA were migrated out of eFORT on March 18. As of March 31, the project was 31% complete, and the team had emptied 53 of the 145 occupied racks at the eFORT Data Center.
Our team plans to migrate HCPF on April 22, DOC on May 13, and DPA and GOV on May 20, with more to come soon. Keep an eye out for updates on your agency as the team continues working with agencies to evaluate server, application, and hardware inventory at eFORT for migration to the cloud or the Lakewood Data Center and decommissioning outdated equipment. With each successful move out of eFORT, we are consolidating physical IT assets, expanding the use of cloud infrastructure, and becoming more efficient in how our state data is collected, stored, and used.
We have another program up and running within the Tech Debt portfolio that will update our phones to the latest secure phone services. The project will add the Avaya OneCloud phone system to the state voice network and make it a service for the rest of the agencies to subscribe to. The project also includes replacing old phones at select sites for CDHS, CDPHE and OIT.
The cutovers are scheduled for June and July 2023, which will involve setting up the phone systems, implementing a training plan and ensuring our customers can make phone calls on a reliable device. Stay tuned for more information coming soon!
The project team is forging ahead with this program, which aims to replace aging Wi-Fi access points (APs) that are at or near EOL (end-of-life) in order to increase speed and stability. So far, we have replaced 18 APs at CDA, nine APs at DOR, and five APs at CDLE.
These agencies have been prioritized for replacement work due to the date their wireless controller will reach EOL:
Replacement work for the remaining agencies whose wireless controllers will not reach EOL until 2027 will be completed under a separate initiative.
The eagerly awaited mainframe stabilization is underway that, when complete, will provide more reliable availability for the applications using the mainframe. The Ensono Hosted Mainframe Migration timeline is nearly complete. The team is working to formalize the schedule with our agency partners. Once that timeline is confirmed, we will share that update with you!
The team is collecting details on jobs still running and a list to work from that continues to evolve. The testing plans for the re-hosting work are in progress with the agency teams.
The stabilization effort, also known as the “lift and shift” to a new platform, is expected to occur during the summer or fall of 2023. This work is separate from the modernization projects. More information will be shared as plans come together for the modernization effort.
The SIDMOD project team is making great strides towards fully removing old software from the mainframe and modernizing State ID number access, use and interoperability! They presented a solution decision, which was signed off on in March. They are working on architecture designs, four key milestones, and project plans based on the approved solution. Once a firm timeline is confirmed, we will share that update.
Ensure you stay in the loop by checking back for updates from the team.
The project team is making significant progress with 60% of the overall project completed at the end of March. The vulnerability remediations for CDHS, DORA and DNR are scheduled to be completed by April 17, 2023. CDLE and GOV remediations are scheduled to start on April 18, 2023.
Keep an eye out for more info from the team as they continue to reach out to agency partners to schedule remediation and testing!
