Mission and Vision Statements Adopted

The Washington State Physical Therapy Board addressed several pressing matters at its October gathering. Among them, the board enthusiastically took on creating mission and vision statements. We set out to encapsulate our mission and vision for serving people in Washington in just a few lines. In drafting our mission and vision statements, we wanted to convey: 

• Our ideal purpose.
• What we do as a board.
• Our hopes, goals, and what we envision for the future for the people of Washington state.

The statements needed to represent all stakeholders, clinicians, patients, customers, and people in the state. With board members having diverse backgrounds and experiences, agreeing on concise statements was a challenge. But we did it. Let us know what you think!

Board of Physical Therapy Mission Statement:

To safeguard our communities’ physical therapy experience by setting and upholding standards for professional competency and quality of care.

Celeste Misko

Celeste Misko, PT, DPT, was appointed to the State Physical Therapy Board in December.  Celeste has 30 years of diverse physical therapy experience in several types of practices.  She received her Master of Science degree in Physical Therapy from the University of Alabama in Birmingham and her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the University of Montana.  Celeste is a Board-Certified Specialist in Orthopedics through the APTA.  She also has a certification in mechanical diagnosis and therapy from the McKenzie Institute.  Celeste has been a member of the APTA since she was a student at UAB and a member of the state chapter of the APTA since 1999.

Celeste currently works with the Muckleshoot Indian Tribe, improving the quality of life of Tribal and community members by providing culturally sensitive, high-quality health care.  She enjoys being immersed in the culture and the spirit of the community.

Celeste enjoys everything outdoors that the Pacific Northwest has to offer, including hiking, biking, kayaking, camping, and exploring.  She also enjoys art museums, and the symphony and spending time with her family.  Celeste looks forward to serving the citizens of Washington in her role as a board member of the Physical Therapy Board.

Board meetings are open to the public and we encourage you to attend in person or virtually. A schedule of meetings is posted on the board's website and attendance information is found in meeting agendas.
