BWSR Spring Training
In 2021, BWSR added an online training option to supplement in-person training. The third Spring Training was offered March 30 with 256 registrants. That was an increase of over 60 registrants from the previous year. Comments in the evaluation including “I appreciate the option to have it virtual” shows support for this additional training format. Over 95% of evaluators indicated Spring Training provided beneficial training to support the work of our partners. This success is due in great part to the over 20 trainers who volunteered their time and knowledge to offer 10 online sessions. Thank you to all who took part in the 2023 BWSR Spring Training by participating, organizing, offering a session, or supporting the work behind the scenes. This success belongs to you!
 Calling all new employees!
The Technical Training and Certification Program (TTCP) is offering another Onboarding Tech Talk. Join us for a webinar TODAY at 1 p.m. to learn more about the technical training resources available to you through TTCP. This training will provide all newer employees (including supervisors) with an orientation to the Technical Training and Certification Program. Participants will have an opportunity to develop their own personalized learning plan and ask questions about training. Those who plan to attend should bring your job description to the training and ask around to find out the five most commonly used conservation practices in your work area.

Save the Date: Soil Health and Sustainability Training
MN NRCS is hosting the “Soil Health and Sustainability for Field Staff” course June 12-15 in Waite Park.
This training is designed to provide field level conservationists and soil scientists with an overall understanding of soil health and sustainability principles to guide them with recommendations for land management. Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to evaluate soil health, have an understanding of soil quality/soil health indicators and their relationship to onsite/offsite effects of management; communicate soil health concerns to employees, partners and land managers through conservation technical assistance and planning that complies with national policy; and apply soil health and sustainability principles and conservation technology holistically to supply safe, healthy and abundant food and fiber and sustain ecosystem functions on agricultural lands.
This course is a requirement for conservation planner certification.
Registration will open to all partner employees at the beginning of May. Be sure to update your IDP and select the “Basic Skill – Soil Health and Management” in order to receive updates on registration.
Any questions, please reach out to Kristin Brennan (Kristin.brennan@state.mn.us).

2023 Training Calendar
An updated working version of the 2023 training calendar is now available. This 12 month view of training offerings is regularly updated and provides information about upcoming training events, including potential dates and locations. Please see the legend at the top and note that the further out a training is proposed the more likely adjustments will need to be made. The dates, locations, and other details are always tentative until the event is posted on the Training Calendar.
