State Announces Development Team for Affordable Housing Project on Capitol Mall in Sacramento
DGS and the Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD) have selected McCormack Baron Salazar, Inc. (MBS) as leader of the developer team to redevelop three state office buildings along Capitol Mall in Sacramento into affordable housing.
Governor Newsom has prioritized affordable housing redevelopment for underutilized state properties. This award will explore the adaptive reuse potential of some of those properties and could serve as a model for projects across the state. Uniquely located steps from the State Capitol—where there is already high-frequency light rail and bus service, walkability to jobs, services and amenities—this climate-smart community could serve as an example of infill infrastructure investments that build more housing faster and help more people reduce reliance on cars to get where they need to go.

LPAs are available to California's state, county, city, special district, education and other government entities. Here are some of the current opportunities being solicited for statewide contracts:
Sustainability Spotlight: Reducing Energy Usage at State Facilities
State facilities have a critical role to play in maintaining a stable electric grid for all Californians. When Flex Alerts are called, state agencies respond by cutting energy use during key hours when the grid is stressed.
In a major step forward for our efforts to reduce peak energy at California state buildings and facilities, DGS is pleased to announce that Enersponse has been selected as the official provider for demand response aggregator services for state government agencies. Whether a state agency has one building or hundreds, Enersponse will be a valuable partner. They will assess which programs work best for each agency’s unique facilities and will enroll them with utilities and the California Independent System Operator to help us all support the grid and reduce peak energy usage. All state departments are strongly encouraged to participate. To learn more about how Enersponse will help state agency facilities, contact Enersponse’s Chief Strategy Officer Rachel Permut at rpermut@enersponse.com.
