Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month!

Join us in celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month! The California Department of General Services proudly recognizes the rich contributions, culture, and history of the American Hispanic community. Throughout Hispanic Heritage Month, our Office of Small Business and Disabled Veteran Business Enterprise (DVBE) Services is honored to collaborate with Hispanic community and business organizations, fostering opportunities for Latino Small Business and DVBE firms to thrive in state contracting.

Last week on Friday, September 22, DGS participated in the 56^th Annual California Native American Day at the California State Capitol’s west steps, proclaimed by Governor Gavin Newsom. DGS’ Office of Small Business and Disabled Veteran Business Enterprise Services (DVBE) participated, along with many other California state departments.

Thank you to all the California Native American tribes and businesses that stopped our booth and thank you to the California Native American Heritage Commission for organizing. It was an honor to participate in the event!

Request for Proposals: Human-Centered Communications and Outreach

DGS is procuring services to optimize its communications and outreach related to state procurement and contracting using a human-centered approach with a goal to create a more efficient, transparent, and inclusive information ecosystem that benefits both the state and its diverse business community.

Want to Access a Statewide Contract?

Leveraged Procurement Agreements (LPAs) allow departments to buy directly from suppliers through existing contracts and agreements. LPAs are available to California's state, county, city, special district, education and other government entities. Here are some of the current opportunities being solicited for statewide contracts:

DGS' Real Estate Services Division (RESD) received the Engineering News-Record (ENR) 2023 Excellence in Sustainability Award for overseeing the eco-friendly design of the 1021 O Street State Office Building. This follows RESD's recent ENR Regional Best Project Award in the Northern California Best Government/Public Building category. Both honors will be featured in ENR's October 16 issue and celebrated in San Francisco on October 17, with potential consideration for ENR's national Best of the Best Awards in spring 2024.

The 10-story, 472,600-square-foot building temporarily houses 1,000 officials and staff, and features LEED Platinum certification, low water-use fixtures, high recycled content materials, daylighting, native vegetation, and LED lighting. It achieves zero-net carbon and zero-net energy through efficiency and a partnership with SMUD, offering occupants inviting social spaces and stunning city views from roof terraces.
