There are exciting changes taking place which will see the coming together of Joint Training, which historically has provided training for staff within adult services, with the Children & Young People's training team at Shropshire Council.  The new team will focus on designing and delivering seamless, high quality training to support the care sector using an all-age approach.  We will keep you up to date on developments.

Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training Update

We are pleased to announce that Joint Training has now delivered our first Tier 1 live-learning webinars.  Mary, Stuart and Jessica have worked hard to put these sessions together and we are delighted by the feedback we have received so far.

Comments on the training include:

  • Really useful session, informative, personable and helpful.
  • Very well run, interactive and very informative.
  • Listening first hand to Jessica and Stuart's experiences and how they feel about situations has really helped me consider things in a different way.
  • A very enjoyable session, Jessica and Stuart engaged well and presented very well.
  • Wonderful training session, thank you.
  • Really enjoyed the live webinar and huge thanks to the team.

We have webinar dates scheduled until May 2024 currently, more dates will be added in the new year.  Booking is via the Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin Integrated Care System at the following link: Learning Portal (mel-lms.online)  Please note you will need to complete the online learning first and this can be done via the same link.

We are currently training our experts with lived experience to be able to deliver the Tier 2 face to face sessions.  Their training will be completed by mid-January 2024 and we will be scheduling training dates following that.

Virtual Care Project

In October, Shropshire Council shared the news that we had received funding to expand our virtual care project, using technology-enabled care to reach more residents, increasing independence and helping people to stay safely in their own homes for longer.

Our partners and suppliers, Service Robotics, have created an animation for practitioners to explain how virtual care in Shropshire works. This short film really helps to illustrate how the virtual care delivery team can use this promising technology to enhance the care that we currently offer.
