CINCINNATI, Ohio -- The Deer Park Hall of Fame Committee has selected honorees for the Class of 2023. The Deer Park Hall of Fame inducted its first members in 1991, and features not only athletes, but also musicians, actors, philanthropists and scholars.
Inductees can be admitted under the category of Athlete, Staff Member/Administrator/ Coach, or Distinguished Alumnus/Alumnae. This year, the committee selected four new members of the Hall of Fame to represent the Class of 2023. They are:
- Rick Crable (Class of 1974)
- Mark Feldhaus (Class of 1982)
- Kari Young Grubenhoff (Class of 2001)
- Dr. Asher O. Hoodin
- Chris Huster (Class of 1971)
- Joe Rohrer (Class of 1973)

Rick Crable
As a member of the Class of 1974, Rick was an outstanding basketball player who made an impact his junior and senior years. He had a great eye for shooting, always played to his strengths, and was a great teammate. During his senior season, Rick was Deer Park’s leading scorer 11 times- with his best game against Milford, during which he scored 30 points. He ended his high school career 13th in the city in scoring. He led the EHL with an average of 18.2 points per game and led the EHL in total points with 341. Rick was named 1st team All EHL and 2nd team All City.
Mark Feldhaus
Mark was a three-sport athlete for the Class of 1982. As a wide receiver and defensive back on the football team, he was an integral part of the 10-0 season. His impressive play earned him 1st team all-city honors for offense and defense. His impact continued as point guard on the basketball team along with his talent at short stop and leadoff hitter for the baseball team. Mark’s positive influence on Deer Park athletics continued when he co-founded Players with Pride 14 years ago. This organization was formed to raise money for Deer Park High School Athletics. They have raised and donated over $70,000 towards Athletic scholarships and all sports programs. Mark continues to serve on the Players with Pride board as well as serving on Deer Park City Council.
Kari Young Grubenhoff
Kari had an impressive softball career during her time at Deer Park. The 1998-2001 girls fast pitch softball team won or shared the CHL championship several years in a row. Kari was an impact player who earned many accolades as a 4-year varsity starter. She was named to the Ohio All Star Team as a freshman, batting .373 with 17 RBI and 21 runs score. With an impressive batting average of .429 her senior year, Kari was named the CHL Player of the Year and the Enquirer’s Division III Player of the Year.
Dr. Asher O. Hoodin
Doc Hoodin volunteered over 25 years of medical service to Deer Park High School football teams beginning in the fall of 1971. He provided his home to the football coaching staff for offsite planning meetings, and he donated numerous supplies and equipment. Although he spent much of his time on the football sidelines, Doc also provided routine physical exams to all Deer Park athletes annually. His continuous treatment of athletic injuries of all students ensured minimal time away from their sport. In 1984, Doc received the Ohio Outstanding Team Physician Award for service to Deer Park High School. In 1991 he received a Meritorious Service Award and Superintendent’s Award for Deer Park community schools. We are proud to welcome Doc Hoodin into the DP Hall of Fame as his daughter Andrea, and son Dan accept the award on his behalf.
Chris Huster
Mrs. Huster was a proud member of the Class of 1971 and a “Marvelous, Simply Marvelous” teacher at Howard, Holmes and Amity for 32 years. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Eastern Kentucky and her master’s degree from Xavier University. She was among the first group of teachers to become a National Board-Certified Teacher. Her love for learning transferred to her students. She was passionate about helping each child grow academically, socially and emotionally. Mrs. Huster ran an at-risk summer program at junior high for 2 years and was a cheerleading coach at the high school for 10 years. She started the annual Veteran’s Day Program at Howard Elementary over 25 years ago and is still actively involved today. For the past 38 years, she has helped run every tax levy and Bond issue, ensuring our students have the best facilities and opportunities to learn. Today you will find Mrs. Huster volunteering in both buildings, running the annual 1st Responders/Veteran’s Night, raising money for D1 Athletics, tutoring students, all while serving on the Board of Education
Joe Rohrer
Joe was a two-sport athlete during his time at Deer Park. He played offensive and defensive end for the football team and earned 2nd team All League his senior year. Joe’s wrestling talent made him a standout athlete as a member of the Class of 1973. While Joe wrestled as a freshman, the launching point of his career came when he wrestled in the 132 lb. weight class as a sophomore. He placed 3rd in the EHL league meet and made it to the 2nd round of sectionals. His success continued as he wrested in the 138 lb. and 155 lb. weight classes his junior and senior years. He won several invitationals, placed 1st in the EHL league and sectional meets, and was selected to the All City honor roll three years in a row. His career record totals were 49 wins, 12 losses with 27 pins.

Deer Park Schools, in association with the Deer Park High School Hall of Fame, would like to congratulate these Deer Park Alumni on their tremendous contributions to our Wildcat community! The new Hall of Fame members will be honored between the 1st and 2nd quarter of the Homecoming football game this evening.
