Grow Appalachia - Herb & Vegetable Seed Drive: Donate by Monday, March 3, 2025
Support Grow Appalachia by donating a packet of vegetable seeds!
Hindman Settlement School is a DAR-supported school in Hindman, Kentucky. This area of Appalachia is still trying to recover from severe flooding in 2022. The school participates in the Grow Appalachia program of Berea College; the program addresses ongoing food insecurity by helping residents to grow food through organic methods. They are asking for donations of vegetable and herb seeds for their annual Seed Shower giveaway. The school will accept any seeds, but there is a special need for heirloom tomatoes and beans, bell peppers, zucchini and squash, cucumbers and melons, lettuce, and herbs (all varieties). If possible, they prefer organic seeds to support their sustainable growing goals, but will accept all donations.
Donation box will be located in the Ted Blum 4-H Center from February 15th through March 3rd.
For questions and additional information, please email: hdunbar@verizon.net.
