DWD, Anthem Partner to Cover HSE Costs for HIP Plus Members

HSE

DWD has partnered with Anthem BlueCross BlueShield to provide Healthy Indiana Plan (HIP) Plus members with free vouchers that cover the cost of the Indiana High School Equivalency (HSE) test. The exam assesses skills at the same level as those of graduating high school seniors to ensure workforce and college readiness.

Through this partnership, eligible Anthem BlueCross BlueShield HIP Plus members can register for the Indiana HSE test at locations throughout Indiana. Members then have three opportunities to pass each of five subject areas (reading, writing, mathematics, science and social studies) within one year.  The HSE testing center will provide a voucher number once a HIP Plus member has completed registration and Anthem Blue Cross BlueShield HIP Plus will cover all test costs.

Additionally, prospective test takers may enroll in free DWD-sponsored adult education classes such as WorkINdiana to prepare for the HSE test. WorkINdiana also enables students to earn a career certificate or industry-recognized credential while studying for the Indiana HSE. For additional information regarding the Indiana HSE or other adult education services provided by the DWD, please visit www.in.gov/dwd/HSE.htm.

College Goal Sunday Helps Students with FAFSA Filing

College Goal Sunday

College Goal Sunday 2017 works students and families through the process of filing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Programs are scheduled across the state at 2 p.m. (local time), Sunday, February 12, 2017.

The program is for college-bound Indiana students, who qualify for undergraduate admission to a college or technical school in 2017. College Goal Sunday provides on-site help from financial aid experts, primarily from Indiana colleges and universities.

Most colleges, universities and vocational/technical schools require students seeking federal financial aid, including grants and loans, to complete the FAFSA. FAFSA forms must be received by the federal processor on or before March 10 to be considered "on-time" for Indiana state grant funding.
