FDA has seen an increase in the number of processing errors due to invalid fax numbers and email addresses.

Please Note the Following requirements:

1) At least one valid PG21 email address is required per entry line. To be valid, the PG21 email addresses should contain one “@” (at symbol). If the email address is longer than 35 characters, continue in a PG60 record with Qualifier Code “EMA”.

2) For Entries requiring Prior Notice , a Prior Notice Submitter and Prior Notice Transmitter must have a valid PG21 email address as described above. When sending a PNS or PNT fax number, send an additional PG21 record with the fax number for the appropriate entity (PNS or PNT) after the email address.

FDA encourages software vendors to validate email address and fax number formats to avoid processing errors. The email/fax field should not be used for other information (i.e. comments about the POC).

Also, as a reminder about CSMS #17-000118, CBP will re-deploy the PG60 validation on March 23, 2017. To prepare for the validation, ensure any PG60 record set follows directly behind the parent record it is associated with.
