RCN to Begin Aerial and Underground Construction in Southeast Evanston May 8

RCN will begin aerial and underground construction to bring internet, phone and video service to southeast Evanston beginning Monday, May 8 through Saturday, September 30. Scheduled work hours are Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Utility crews will be identifying all underground mainlines within the shaded blue areas of the attached map, provided by RCN. Additional notification will be provided to all residents that may be impacted by underground work at least five days prior to any construction.

Aerial construction will take place within the large outlined area of the map, south of Greenwood Street and east of the CTA and Metra tracks. Work will consist of placement of coax and fiber for internet, video and telephone services. Aerial bucket trucks and trailers will be working in streets and alleys. In some cases, construction will cause pedestrian and vehicular traffic to be altered. Warning and safety signs will be used to inform community members of road and alley closures as well as sidewalk reroutes. All residents will have access to their garages during construction.

Residents are asked to not remove any utility markings or flags from their property over the coming weeks. RCN crews will remove all flags once construction is complete.

Services with other companies will not be interrupted.
