Compassion Fatigue and Foster Carers

We can feel stuck at times caring for our most vulnerable children and young people. This is up to date research on Compassion Fatigue that every carer should know about – we are hoping to cover this in our support groups in the future, well worth reading.

Reminder about Children’s Guides to Foster Care

There are two written ‘guides’ available that can be given to children when they come into foster care (one for ages 7 to 11 and one for ages 11 to 16).  These explain some important concepts and terminology related to being a child in care, and also have space for the child to record information that is important to them.  These are available in electronic form on our fostering website.  If you would like printed copies please just ask your supervising social worker.
