June 20 webinar to offer insight on Demonstration project planning

On June 20, from noon to 1 p.m., Healthier Washington will host a webinar to update the public about how Accountable Communities of Health (ACHs) will choose and implement health improvement projects under Initiative 1 of the Medicaid Transformation Demonstration.

The webinar will provide an overview of a draft document, called the Project Plan Template, which will guide ACHs in submitting their health improvement plans to the state. The Project Plan Template will be available on the Healthier Washington website beginning June 15. A public comment period on the Project Plan Template will begin after the webinar and close on June 30.

The webinar is an opportunity to learn more about the process for choosing projects, how ACHs’ project plans will be assessed, how funds will be distributed, and the relationship between the Project Plan Template and the Project Toolkit.

In May, the Medicaid Transformation Demonstration achieved an important milestone when all nine Accountable Communities of Health passed Phase I certification. This designation allows them to begin foundational work on regional projects that support the goals of better care, healthier people, and lower costs.

Background

The Demonstration is a five-year agreement between the state and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) that provides up to $1.1 billion in incentives to test and implement innovative new approaches to providing care, as well as $375 million to support new services for Medicaid clients.
