Commuting Changes Coming

Starting Sunday, June 25, a number of changes to commuting options will go into effect:

• Arlington Transit (ART) and Specialized Transportation for Arlington Residents (STAR), will see fare increases. The ART fare will increase from $1.75 to $2 (subsequently, the discount fare will be $1). 
• The student discount fare for ART buses will now be extended to County elementary school students.
• Around the region, June 25 also marks the first day of changes to Metro, notably new Metrorail hours, fare increases and some services changes.  

Safer Streets for Pedestrians and Cyclists

Safety improvements are coming to two of the County’s most heavily used bicycle trails: Three intersections along the W&OD trail near South Four Mile Run Drive, and another three intersections along the Custis Trail. 

Share Your Thoughts on Land Use 

The Joint Facilities Advisory Commission (JFAC) has completed Phase 2 of the Use Determination Process, and is recommending the County acquire the Buck site and the Carlin Springs site. The commission now wants you to review its draft report and share your thoughts by June 26.
