PEA (Personal Education Allowance) Money

The Fostering Service has been informed that PEA (Personal Education Allowance) money is to be reduced.  The amount has been reduced to a maximum of £200 for the year per child.  This means that from this point forward, any PEA applications that have not yet been granted cannot exceed £200.

We have been advised that many carers are organising and paying for activities in advance of receiving PEA money.  Please be aware that PEA is an application process, and be careful not to spend money in advance of PEA being agreed in case you are not then reimbursed.  PEP meetings and CiC review meetings can only make recommendations in regard to PEA money, so if you want to be certain of being reimbursed please wait until you have had full confirmation that the application has been agreed.

Please note that this decision to reduce the Personal Education Allowance has not been made by the sostering service – we do not have any say over decision-making in regard to PEA money but have been asked to keep foster carers up to date regarding the change.

OFSTED FOSTERING QUESTIONNAIRE 2017 – IMPORTANT FEEDBACK REQUIRED

We have received this year’s request from Ofsted regarding the views of all individuals who come into contact with our service. This includes staff, children and young people and yourselves as foster carers for our service.

The document attached contains an e mail from Ofsted explaining their request and with a direct link to the survey. Also within the document there is a link for the children and young people to click on so that they can complete the survey. Please could you complete the survey and encourage the children and young people also to make their views known.

There are 38 tick box questions with the opportunity for comments covering the assessment process right through to your current situation.

The deadline for completion of the questionnaire is 13th August 2017. Many thanks for your help with this.
