I-69 Bridge Construction Near IN-332 (McGalliard Rd.)
Advancing to Next Phase,
Southbound Lane Diverts Across Median

Phase 3 MOT

HIS Constructors plans to shift Interstate 69 traffic lanes Friday night to begin the next phase of construction at the Pleasant Run Creek bridges immediately south of State Road 332 (McGalliard Road) Exit 241.

Starting at 9 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 11, alternating lanes of I-69 will be closed as crews modify pavement markings and divert one left lane of I-69 South across the median to share the northbound side of the interstate. Opposing directions of traffic will be separated by concrete barriers during this phase.

One right lane of I-69 South will remain shifted to the right on the southbound side of the interstate. The State Road 332 (McGalliard Road) entrance ramp to I-69 South will remain open until the next phase of construction.

Weather permitting, all lanes will be open and shifted into this work zone traffic pattern before 6 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 12.

Traffic during construction

The work zone speed limit is reduced to 60 MPH and further reduced to 50 MPH when workers are present and lights are flashing.

Multiple phases will be required to maintain two lanes of interstate traffic in each direction during construction - except for overnight lane closures between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m.

Motorists can expect temporary traffic lane shifts throughout the project, median crossovers, and a 30-day closure of the entrance ramp to southbound I-69 starting in September. A specific closure date will be announced in advance. Construction is expected to be complete in November.

About the project

The $1.7 million bridge construction project intends to protect and extend the life of each structure by applying modified concrete overlays to the bridge decks, sealing bridge joints, and repairing various concrete bridge components at the I-69 bridges over Pleasant Run Creek.
