In November 2016, the Evanston City Council approved a fourth round testing of the City's drinking water taking samples from 63 sites including locations around James Park and in each of the City's nine wards. The test resulted concluded that the City of Evanston drinking water is safe to drink and use.
In June 2017, pipe investigation work on Oakton St. and Dodge Ave. was conducted as part of the City's litigation with Nicor and ComEd. The contractor collected soil and air samples at the sites, however, no water samples were collected. The results of the samples are part of the City's evidence in the federal lawsuit against Nicor and ComEd, and is not related to the drinking water samples taken late last year.
The James Park Water Quality Updates newsletter is sent out monthly with the latest developments on this topic.
