Heading into the Holiday season, we are happy to announce that we have a total of 9 sites substantially complete on the project. Our project team has been working really hard to make sure we meet deadlines, coordinate construction, permits, leases and all the other facets of this huge project. I appreciate all the hard work the project team has done but I also would like to acknowledge our partners who have been there every step of the way with us!
As you may know, the PSERN Project is led by King County and there are three additional partners—Valley Communications (ValleyCom) which represents the south end cities including Renton, Tukwila, Auburn, and Federal Way; Eastside Public Safety Communications Agency (EPSCA) which represents the eastside cities of Bellevue, Kirkland Redmond, Mercer Island, Issaquah and City of Seattle.
Prior to the project’s inception, we spent a lot of time meeting with project partners to determine if we were making the right decisions, answering tough questions, planning and scheduling etc. This wasn’t always an easy task when you have varying opinions on how the project should proceed. However, in the end we built strong relationships and continue to move in a positive direction with the help of all of our partners.
Similarly, since the project began in 2015, we have relied upon our partners to help us review design deliverables from Motorola and assist in other aspects of the project. Unlike the project team, our partners did not commission a formal project, and therefore they provide us with support in conjunction with all their “other duties.” Somehow they find a way to fit it all in and without them we would not be where we are today.
I think it is also important to keep in mind that aside from our partners named above, we consider our first responders, other users of the system and King County residents our partners in such an important project. And we will continue to work hard to ensure that we provide an amazing new emergency radio system for our region.

 After many months of prep work, the project is finally at the point where we have begun installing the first active electronics to be used in the network! The installation of the Fixed Network Equipment (FNE) is pivotal to the new emergency radio system as it is the first step to install all of the essential elements such as new power plants, microwaves, LMR radios and much more.
PSERN not only has some great folks working on the team to serve King County but we also have a few veterans who have served our country! This year for veterans day, King County Executive Dow Constantine honored the veterans who work for the County with a certificate of appreciation that was distributed by their directors. We wanted to also acknowledge our veterans on the PSERN team:
