Mid and East foster carers – Christmas Lunch with
Carers and Staff Team - 08/12/2017 – cancelled
With regret we have had to make the decision to cancel this
event due to a very low level of interest from our foster carers. We hope
this is because you are all prioritising the other Christmas events being run
by fostering in Mid and East/Exeter! If there are any carers with any
ideas about how to run a staff/foster carer lunch or other event differently
next year, please pass these on to your supervising social worker. All of
our very best wishes for the festive season (in advance), from the Mid and East
Fostering Team.

Online Training - Spaces Available for; Supporting the Mental Health Needs of Looked After Children
Our recent training survey results showed that carers
wanted to learn more about mental health for children in care. This is
what we have taken into account when choosing the topic of the first online
training course we offer:
Supporting the Mental Health Needs of Looked After
Children (online training course)
This course has been written in partnership with
YoungMinds, the UK’s leading charity championing the wellbeing and mental
health of young people.
The course is evidence based and informed by the lived
experience of practitioners, parents and young people. It will help foster
carers understand the key indicators of good mental health and recognise the
warning signs. The course includes the YoungMinds resilience framework which
gives detailed, practical support to carers to develop resilience in children
and young people.
In order to book your place, please email fosteringservicestraining-mailbox@devon.gov.uk
by 04/12/2017. You will receive an automatic confirmation email if
you are granted access to the course, but we will also send out a separate
information email to make sure you are aware of how to access technical support
with the online training system if needed.
You will be given three months to complete your course,
which will begin on the date that you receive email notification that the
course is now accessible to you. If you do not complete the course
within three months of being granted access then a £50 fee will apply (you will
receive reminder emails letting you know the course is still to be completed).
