Review Seeks Fairer Fees For Foster Carers

The review and remodelling of the foster carer fees continues as promised. There have been numerous meetings with senior managers, local politicians and committees as the need for change and the process has been examined and scrutinised. This has been a very useful process which has taken time, but it is time well spent. The senior managers continue to support the service in the desire to get things right and take the time to do so.

We thought it would be useful to share one of the recent communications from Cllr James McInnes as he outlines the current position. Please click on the link below.

Due to our continued desire to engage and respond to the representations received from some foster carers the time line for the implementation of the changes is still to be confirmed however the work continues and will be completed.

Youth Justice

Youth Justice Fostering

Have you ever considered Youth Justice Fostering? We are looking for experienced foster carers who can provide supportive family accommodation for young people from the age of 10, who are usually on remand awaiting Criminal Court proceedings, have recently been released from a young offender institution, or may have been held in a police station overnight and require short term emergency care.

Youth Justice fostering aims to break the re-offending cycle by offering young people a stable family environment. They are supported and encouraged to tackle their offending behaviour by working through issues with their youth offending team worker, carers, and family.

Over the years the scheme has consistently reduced the numbers of young people receiving custodial sentences and the rates of re-offending.
