Rhododendron Boardwalk

Rhododendron Park Ribbon-Cutting May 3

First project of the voter-approved Walkways and Waterways Initiative is complete! Check out the new boardwalk and float at the Rhododendron Park waterfront, 6910 NE 170th Street. City staff and Councilmembers will host a ribbon-cutting and commemorate the opening of the boating season on Thursday, May 3 from 6:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. The new boardwalk connects the park to the Sammamish River and Kenmore Boat Launch. The new float improves waterfront accessibility for hand-powered watercraft users.

Business Open House

Kenmore Business Open House May 3

Come network and get to know your local businesses at the semi-annual Kenmore Business Open House on Thursday, May 3, from 8:30 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. at Kenmore City Hall. This free event is sponsored by the City of Kenmore and the Kenmore Business Alliance. Attendees are encouraged to bring marketing materials.

Cinco de Mayo

Cinco de Mayo celebration May 5

Join the Cinco de Mayo celebration on Saturday, May 5, from 3:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at the Hangar and Town Square, 6728 NE 181st Street. Hosted by the Arts of Kenmore and BizDiversity, this event will include salsa dancing, art activities for kids, food trucks, a historical presentation, and DJ entertainment.

Coffee with Council May 7 and May 19

Kenmore City Council invites community members to Coffee with Council on Monday, May 7 at 7:30 a.m. and Saturday, May 19 at 8:00 a.m. at the Hangar, 6728 NE 181st Street. These sessions provide an informal opportunity to get to know your Councilmembers.

WSCP walks

Wallace Swamp Creek Park Nature Walk May 14

You are invited to participate in the City’s free guided nature walks at Wallace Swamp Creek Park. On the second Monday of each month now through October, a volunteer parks steward will host a 1.5 - 2 hour-long tour exploring two miles of paved and primitive trails through the 25-acre park. 

Tours start at 9:00 a.m. at the kiosk at Wallace Swamp Creek Park parking lot, 19851 73rd Avenue NE. Participants under the age of 18 years old must be accompanied by a parent.

Recycling Collection Event May 12

There will be a recycling collection event at Inglemoor High School, 15500 Simonds Road NE, on Saturday, May 12 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Donate items such as tires, styrofoam, batteries, cardboard, appliances, mattresses, and much more. Some items will be collected for a fee.

Bike Month

Bike Everywhere Day May 18

May is Bike Month in Kenmore! Celebrate bicycling and stop by the annual Bike Everywhere Day celebration on Friday, May 18 at 192 Brewery, 7234 NE 175th Street, between 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. This fun, free, and family-friendly event is geared toward bicyclists of all levels and will feature live music, a bike repair station, a demo bus bike rack, low-cost helmets, snacks, giveaways, and resources.

Kenmore Waterfront Activities Fair May 19

Come try out a canoe, kayak, stand-up paddle board, or dragon boat at the Kenmore Waterfront Activities Fair on Saturday, May 19, from noon – 4:00 p.m. at Squire's Landing Park, 7353 NE 175th Street. Hosted by the Kenmore Waterfront Activities Center, this event includes a 20k hand-powered watercraft race between Redmond and Kenmore. At 1:30 p.m. join City staff and Councilmembers for a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the new float at Squire's Landing Park.

Special Olympics

Special Olympics Coming to Kenmore this July

Did you know the Special Olympics USA Games are coming to Kenmore this summer? From Sunday, July 1 through Friday, July 6, Kenmore Lanes will host the bowling events. The opening ceremony will take place at the Husky Stadium in Seattle. If you are interested in volunteering for the Special Olympics, visit www.specialolympicsusagames.org/volunteer.

Becky Range Joins Kenmore Staff

Becky Range has just joined the City of Kenmore team as a Communications Specialist. She was most recently with the City of Redmond, holding positions of Community Engagement Specialist in the Mayor’s Executive Department and Police Department Public Information Officer. She is eager to meet the Kenmore community, so be sure to say hello!
