Dear Washingtonians,
It's that time of year again - June is just around the corner and families across Washington, DC are preparing to have a safe, fun, and productive summer.
Tomorrow, we'll kick off the outdoor pool season with a celebration at Randall Recreation Center. And this year, we have something extra to celebrate. After hearing your feedback, we made some changes, and, this summer, our outdoor pools will open an hour earlier.
Of course, our pools are just one part of the fun. The Department of Parks and Recreation also has engaging summer camps, programming for residents of all ages, and family movie nights. The Office on Asian and Pacific Islander Affairs hosts summer movie nights and fitness sessions in Chinatown Park. Among many other events, the Office of the Deputy Mayor for Greater Economic Opportunity is hosting a Marvin Gaye Summer
Concert Series in Ward 7. And from events at our public libraries to our summer school programs to the Mayor Marion S. Barry Summer Youth Employment Program, there is so much more available to help our young people stay safe and engaged throughout the summer months.
Together, let's spread the word about all that's going on and make this a safe and fun summer.

Last week, in recognition of National Foster Care Month, Child and Family Services Agency (CFSA) Director Brenda Donald spoke about the District's progress in serving children and families in Washington, DC. Watch Director Donald's Facebook interview HERE to learn more about the District's Foster and Adoption Program.
In addition, residents interested in adopting or fostering children and teens in Washington, DC can attend an informational session at CFSA where representatives from the agency will provide an overview of the District's program and answer questions. Last week, Mayor Bowser awarded two new child care spaces to
CommuniKids and Kiddie University, one space at the University of the District
of Columbia in Ward 3 and the other at the Deanwood Recreation Center in
Ward 7.
The announcement is the latest step in the Bowser Administration's efforts to create approximately 1,000 new infant and toddler seats to better meet the needs of families in Washington, DC. Learn more about the Administration's work around early child care HERE.

 The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) Infrastructure Management Division is responsible for the design, engineering, and construction of roadways, bridges, and large infrastructure projects in the District of Columbia.
DDOT has an opening for a Civil Engineer. This position serves as a technical specialist in the Stormwater Management Green Infrastructure Program and manages stormwater retrofit design and construction projects to meet federal and local regulatory requirements.
