Dear Washingtonians,
Coming into office, I charged my team with finding new ways to make Washington, DC more affordable for people of all backgrounds. From changing the way our workforce programs train and connect DC residents to DC jobs to putting homeownership in reach for more Washingtonians, we approached the work with the understanding that, for many residents, there is not just one pathway to the middle class. From day one, we committed to taking a broad approach to expanding economic opportunity.
Three and a half years later, with work still left to do, we have come a long way. By investing $100 million in four consecutive budgets in our Housing Production Trust Fund, we've set a new bar when it comes to investing in affordable housing—we've changed expectations, set a new standard, and shown what is possible when a city not only invests in affordable housing, but works diligently to get the money out the door. With the help of the Housing Production Trust Fund, we have already sparked the creation or preservation of more than 10,800 affordable units, with more than 5,100 units in preconstruction.
And we're not slowing down. Yesterday, we announced a $103 million investment in nine projects that will create or preserve affordable housing for more than 1,700 Washingtonians. The projects—four new production projects, three preservation projects, and two mixed projects that preserve existing units and also add new affordable units—will serve households making no more than 80 percent of the Median Family Income (MFI), and nearly two-thirds of the units will be dedicated toward households below 50 percent MFI.
Washington, DC is the best city in the world. Together, let's stay focused on keeping our city diverse, inclusive, and a place where all residents get a fair shot.

Join us on Saturday, June 30 at RFK from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the 2018 Truck Touch! This annual event features a variety of free activities for kids and adults. DC Government agencies will present and demonstrate nearly 30 vehicles used to clean and repair streets, change traffic lights, clear snow, provide emergency services, and more.

DC Public Schools (DCPS) is looking for parents and community members to serve on advisory boards to advise and guide the implementation of policies and initiatives over the 2018-2019 School Year. Candidates will be evaluated on whether they exhibit: a strong connection to DCPS, a thoughtful approach to issues of equity and diversity, the ability to communicate well with other parents and stakeholders, and critical thinking toward the district-wide impacts of DCPS decisions.

The mission of the Department of Behavioral Health (DBH) is to develop, manage, and oversee a public behavioral health system for District residents that is consumer-driven, community-based, culturally competent, and supports prevention, resiliency, and recovery.
DBH has an opening for a Peer Counselor. This position is responsible for utilizing shared experiences and knowledge to engage individuals in the community to promote the utilization of behavioral health services.
