Teoni Attended An Awards Evening In London

Teoni Owen (mid Devon) entered the Coram Voices competition to write a 500 word song, story, poem or rap. She wrote a poem 'Every Day in Every Way'. Although Teoni had not finished it, Sarah Bradley (her Foster Carer) entered it for her and Teoni was shortlisted to the final six.

Teoni alongside her Foster Carers, Sarah & David and her sister Shanice were invited to attend an Awards Evening at Coutts in the Strand in London on 9th April. Teoni was kindly given a voucher for a new outfit by Fostering Devon and I’m sure you agree she looked divine. Teoni met the other shortlisted entrants and the event host, Peter Capaldi (photo). She came 4th in her category, and was commended. Teoni made the most of her trip to the big city and also visited the British Museum and Camden Lock as well as attending a fun workshop and rehearsal put on by Coram in the afternoon.

Sarah reported they are all very proud of Teoni and she is excited to be famous!

Case Studies - We Would Like To Hear From You!

We know that those considering fostering find it invaluable to hear first-hand from other foster carers about what they can expect. We’re looking for some Devon carers to feature in new case studies about the fostering role, to share why they started fostering, what happens on a day to day basis and why they would encourage others to go for it.

If you’d be happy to share your story please email childsc.fosteringoperationsmanager-mailbox@devon.gov.uk and we’ll get in touch with a few questions for you to answer in your own time. Alternatively you can get someone to film you answering the questions in a short vox pop style interview. The case studies will be added to our website and shared on social media, all names can be changed.  Here are some of our current case studies to give you an idea: https://www.fosteringindevon.org.uk/what-is-fostering/people-like-you-foster/

Fun In North Devon On Our Latest Fostering Walk On 29th May 2018

We had another lovely walk during half term and the sun was shining.

This time we met at Fremington Quay and walked along the Tarka Trail to Instow where we enjoyed a picnic lunch on the beach.

We caught the bus back to Fremington and walked back to the Quay to finish our afternoon with drinks and ice creams, having walked just over 5 miles!

Two more walks planned for the Summer holidays on 31st July and 20th August. Further details to follow.  All are welcome.
