Great Lakes Great Apple Crunch

Register for the Great Lakes Great Apple Crunch and receive free stickers and a chance to win a visit from former Olympian Carrie Tollefson! Join hundreds of child care centers and schools throughout Minnesota by crunching into delicious locally grown apples at noon (or during your lunch time) on Thursday, October 11. Find local farms with apples on the Minnesota Grown Directory website. Child and Adult Care Food Programs

 

Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) Basic Training

This live, in-person workshop provides basic information on CACFP. The target audience is new directors, program coordinators, or center staff with CACFP responsibilities at child care centers and adult care centers participating in CACFP. Each workshop will be held 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

Training Opportunities

Procurement Basics for Food Service Directors

The annual two-day School Nutrition Director training will focus on procurement basics for School Nutrition Programs. It will be held at six locations (Thief River Falls, Fergus Falls, Mountain Iron, Sartell, Marshall and Roseville) on October 18-19, 2018, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. each day.

A variety of topics will be offered during this year’s Tuesdays @ 2 webinar series. All webinars begin at 2 p.m. and will be 30 to 60 minutes in length, unless otherwise noted. Agricultural Growth, Research and Innovation (AGRI) Grants

The Minnesota Department of Agriculture (MDA) has two Agricultural Growth, Research and Innovation (AGRI) grant opportunities available for K-12 institutions who participate in the National School Lunch Program and early care and education centers who participate in the Child and Adult Care Food Program. Planning grants will be awarded up to $30,000. Equipment purchase and physical improvement grants will be awarded up to $50,000. Applications must be submitted by 4 p.m. CST on November 1, 2018.
