The popular Dry Cleaner Compliance Calendar, published by Department of Natural Resource's (DNR’s) Small Business Environmental Assistance Program (SBEAP), is now available. All dry cleaning facilities in Wisconsin are automatically mailed a copy. SBEAP designed this tool for dry cleaning operations as a way to help these facilities comply with air emission and hazardous waste regulations. The calendar includes useful information such as up-to-date factsheets that summarize environmental regulations along with space for keeping important records. Facilities can fill out and keep the calendar on file for five years to help them comply with state and federal record keeping requirements. One important change noted in the calendar is that dry cleaning equipment using perchloroethylene may no longer be co-located in residential buildings starting December 21, 2020.
If the owner or operator of a dry cleaning facility does not receive a calendar in the next couple weeks, or is in need of additional copies, contact the SBEAP by calling the Small Business Helpline toll-free at 855-889-3021 or sending an e-mail to: DNRSmallBusiness@wisconsin.gov. DNR’s Small Business Environmental Council will meet on January 9, 2020, from 10:00 am -12:00 pm, at 101 South Webster Street, Madison, WI. If you have an interest in having the council present at your event or inviting them to tour your business and learn more about your interactions with DNR, please attend this meeting. The majority of the agenda will be finalizing details on Council meetings for early 2020.
The Small Business Environmental Council works to make sure the small business community gets the help they need from the DNR. Council members advise the DNR about how existing rules affect small businesses, provide their perspective on proposed regulations, and help make DNR documents easier to understand. The governor and the legislature appoint seven members of the council and the eighth is from the DNR. Together, they serve as the voice of Wisconsin’s small business community at the DNR. Wisconsin DNR's Forest Products Services program is a partner in the Statewide Wood Energy Team (SWET) and through that partnership works to expand markets for converting woody biomass into energy, utilizing commercially viable wood energy systems. SWET partner entities work with interested parties and offer free assistance to evaluate whether wood energy is a viable option for their facility.
