Mission:

The mission of the Mayor’s Office on African Affairs (MOAA) is to ensure that the full range of health, education, employment, social services, safety, business and economic development information, services and opportunities are accessible to the District’s African immigrant community. 

By serving as the liaison between the District’s African immigrant community, District government agencies, and the Mayor, MOAA aims to improve the quality of life of the District’s diverse African-born constituencies and their children, increase civic and public engagement in the District’s African immigrant community, and support community development.

Director of Strategic Initiatives

Office of the Deputy Mayor for Education

The Director of Strategic Initiatives is the senior leader on the policy team responsible for leading, tracking and coordinating priority initiatives in the area of career readiness and workforce development. This individual will work with agency leaders and community stakeholders to strengthen pathways so every District resident can pursue meaningful family-sustaining work.  Experience working in education leadership and management of strategic policy initiatives is desirable.

Deputy General Counsel

Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs 

Assists in overseeing the daily operations of the Office of the General Counsel. Establishes objectives and performance goals and assesses the effectiveness of operations. Participates in planning, developing and instituting short-and long-term plans and work projects. Applicants must have a law degree (LL.B. or J.D.) from an American Bar Association (ABA) accredited law school.

Supervisory IT Specialist - Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC)

This position carries out the District Government’s responsibilities in securing enterprise information by determining GRC requirements, planning, implementing and testing GRC systems; preparing GRC standards, and procedures; mentoring team members. Supervisory Recreation Specialist (Pool Manager)

The incumbent will ensure all staff is in compliance with the standards of the Aquatics Division and selected certification provider.
