Gov. Evers Signs Bipartisan Legislation at Milton High School |
MILTON — Gov. Tony Evers today at Milton High School signed two bipartisan bills that will strengthen Wisconsin’s commitment to our kids and our schools, including Assembly Bill 528, now 2019 Wisconsin Act 83, which establishes a grant program for peer-to-peer suicide prevention programs in Wisconsin schools. “We know that students all over our state are struggling with their mental health. Peer-to-peer training ensures that the people they are most likely to turn to, their friends and classmates, have the tools they need to recognize warning signs and help their friends,” said Gov. Evers. “This is about putting our kids' health and safety first, and I was proud to sign this bipartisan bill into law today at Milton High School.” In addition to Assembly Bill 528, Gov. Evers signed Senate Bill 230, now 2019 Wisconsin Act 84, allowing more flexibility for the superintendent of public instruction to recognize alternative teaching licensure tracks.
