Dear FCPS families,

We are well into our Distance Learning programs and are headed to our celebrations of the Class of 2020.  I’m so proud of all of our Seniors and want to wish each of our graduating students much success. It’s time to celebrate the accomplishments of the graduating class of 2020 and I, along with my colleagues, will see you at the ceremony to honor this momentous occasion. See graduation schedules below.

For those of you who are concerned about the tragic death of George Floyd and the unrest in our nation, I will be hosting a Town Hall this Wednesday, June 3rd.  This is an opportunity to hear from local leaders from our region, and to begin a discussion about how this impacts our schools and local government.  Details are below:

Audit Chair Report

The Audit Committee has continued its' work with our Auditor General.  The Board authorized the Auditor General to conduct a comprehensive review of our Special Education Services.  That RFP has been issued.  Any submissions will be reviewed by our Selection Committee.  Below is a message from our Auditor General:

  • FCPS Office of Auditor General (OAG) reports to the School Board via the School Board Audit Committee.  OAG promotes accountability and transparency through independent audits and reviews. Issued audit reports are available on the OAG Audit Reports webpage.  OAG also conducts outreach to FCPS employees and community members through various mediums, including trainings and OAG’s periodical, Audit Buzz.  Stay up-to-date on OAG’s work by subscribing to Audit Buzz via FCPS News You Choose.  Additionally, OAG maintains an anonymous Fraud, Waste, and Abuse Hotline.  Suspected instances of waste, fraud, or abuse of FCPS assets and resources can be reported directly by calling the anonymous hotline at (571) 423-1333 and leaving a voicemail.  If you have any questions or comments, please reach out to Esther Ko, yko@fcps.edu, Auditor General.
