Happy Summer Everyone!
While each of our families have been adjusting to guidelines to keep us safe, the School Board continues to hear reports from our Staff on the Return to School Plan. We have participated in work sessions on the subject, have conducted surveys of staff and families, are currently holding public hearings to receive public comment and will finalize plans for the 2020/2021 school year shortly.
Below, please find a Board schedule for meetings and public hearings. Additionally, please save the Date for my Student Town Hall to discuss all the changes we have experienced in the past few months. This should help us to understand how our students are feeling through a pandemic, Distance Learning and national events. Please find important updates here:

Audit Chair Update
FCPS issued a Request for Proposal (RFP) for the Comprehensive Program Review of FCPS’ Special Education Services, whereas Office of Auditor General (OAG) will serve as the project liaison. In order to identify the best qualified vendor to perform this important School Board initiative, a comprehensive evaluation committee has been formed with key stakeholders and constituents, including parents, an independent university professor, and teachers. The review is planned to start in the Fall and be completed over two years, with annual progress reporting to the School Board.
At the June Audit Committee meeting, OAG presented a detailed breakdown of the proposed FY 2021 Audit Plan. The Audit Plan serves as a guide for OAG audits and other tasks to be completed in order to promote achievement of the Division’s strategic goals, especially in the area of resource stewardship. OAG will present the FY 2021 Audit Plan to the full School Board on July 9.
