'Evanston Recycles' returns this Saturday
It's time to get rid of unwanted items in your home! Recycle electronics and securely shred documents at the "drive up, drop off" "Evanston Recycles" event this Sat., July 11, from 9 a.m. to noon, at ETHS. Due to COVID-19, new safety rules have been put in place and only electronic waste and documents for shredding will be collected.
Enjoy the 2020 Starlight Concert Series
Enjoy three free outdoor concerts in Evanston parks on the remaining Tuesdays in July as part of the Starlight Concert Series! The next concert will feature The Ivy Ford Band on Tues., July 14, 7 p.m., at Elks Park, located at Mulford Street and Callan Avenue. Food trucks will be on site beginning at 5:30 p.m.
Additional COVID-19 safety guidelines and capacity limits have been put in place. Concerts will be canceled in the event of inclement weather.
Police Budget Q&A and Discussion
Join Mayor Hagerty for a "Q&A and Discussion Series on Policing in Evanston." The series will help inform the City Council's discussion on policing as they consider any appropriate changes to better serve the community.
Tune in: The next Q&A is Mon., July 13, at noon, and will focus on the Police Budget. Watch the discussion live on Channel 16 and on the City’s Facebook page. Questions may be submitted live during the broadcast or in advance using the City’s Q&A form, or by commenting on the Facebook Live broadcast.

Health and safety reminders for Evanston beaches
Evanston beaches, including Lighthouse, Clark Street, Lee Street and South Boulevard, are open for swimming. Please keep in mind these safety guidelines before you go to the beach.
Maintain your space: When purchasing or picking up a beach pass or token, keep a distance of six feet from others in line and wear a face covering when entering the building. Daily beach passes can be purchased for use on a later date.
Stay hydrated: Bring your own full water bottle; drinking fountains will remain closed in accordance with State public health guidelines.

Below, you’ll find the latest COVID-19 data from the City’s Health and Human Services Department. Visit the City’s interactive COVID-19 dashboard (view on mobile) for additional information and metrics.
Confirmed daily cases
The average number of daily confirmed COVID-19 cases has remained steady, with an average of 1.71 new cases per day over the last seven-day operational period. Evanston has had 809 confirmed COVID-19 cases to date, with 32 cases currently active. To date, 70 Evanston residents have died of illness or complications related to COVID-19, an increase of one over the last week. Evanston reported 0 new cases today and 0 deaths.

Hospital admissions and testing
COVID-19 hospital admissions decreased during the month of June and have since stabilized. The City’s seven-day moving average daily test positivity rate (the percentage of those tested who tested positive for COVID-19 over a seven-day period) decreased to 1.48 percent. More than 10,000 Evanston residents have been tested so far.
The City is planning another Evanston community testing event in July, with details to be announced soon. Residents can also receive free testing at State community-based testing sites, including the nearest locations in Harwood Heights and Rolling Meadows.

As COVID-19 cases increase in many parts of the country, it’s clear that we must all continue to do our part and remain vigilant about following public health guidelines. Please continue to take the following actions to protect your health and the health of others around you:
- Maintain a six-foot distance from those outside of your household
- Wear a face covering in public when a six-foot distance is difficult to maintain
- Wash hands frequently and thoroughly
- Stay home when sick
- Cover coughs and sneezes
- Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces

Library moves to Service Level 2 with addition of new services
On Tues., July 14, the Evanston Public Library will move from its current service level to Service Level 2, which will include computer use at the Main Library in a limited capacity.
Consulting support available for Evanston businesses
Nearly 50 Evanston businesses have signed up for free strategic consulting support from the Kellogg School of Management as part of its small business advisory initiative. Evanston business owners in need of support can set up a profile on Startup Tree to begin the process.
Calling for your community: Become a Census phone bank volunteer
Evanston's Census response rate is lagging behind our 2010 results. Help make sure our community is accurately counted by becoming a Census phone bank volunteer! Volunteers will make phone calls from the comfort of their own homes to our lowest response rate areas. Email marionjohnson@cityofevanston.org to sign up.

Second Substantial Amendment to PY2019 Action Plan
The City will submit the second Substantial Amendment to its PY2019 Action Plan that includes the second allocation of ESG-CV funding from the CARES Act following approval by City Council at its July 13 meeting.
