Outdoor Dining is in Full Swing in Evanston
Summer is here, and so is patio season! We know everyone has felt cooped up over the past few months, so why not get out and enjoy this beautiful weather at one of Evanston's several outdoor dining options? From rooftops and sidewalk cafes to City parks and streets, we've revamped outdoor dining by creating alternative spaces to help our local restaurants provide more safe dining options during the COVID-19 pandemic. While enjoying open air dining, protect the health of our restaurant workers and yourself by maintaining a six-foot distance from those outside of your immediate household and wear a cloth face covering when distancing cannot be maintained. Find restaurants offering outdoor dining in Downtown Evanston, the Main-Dempster Mile, and on Central Street.
Featured Outdoor Dining Areas:
"Custer Oasis" Street Patio
Trattoria D.O.C., La Principal and the Wine Goddess worked together with the City on the above street closure and now share a beautiful outdoor dining space to serve their customers on Custer Ave. and Main St. in the Main-Dempster Mile. Seating is first-come, first-served.
Sketchbook Brewing Company Beer Garden
Sketchbook Brewing Company partnered with the City to open their first ever Beer Garden, located in St. Paul Park at Chicago & Kedzie. The Beer Garden is now open every Wednesday through Sunday from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m., weather permitting. Seating is first-come, first-served, but reservations are also available. Enjoy some time in the fresh air with your favorite brews this weekend.
Farmhouse Evanston
The Farmhouse patio, located at 703 Church St., is open and ready for you! Using extra sidewalk space lets more people enjoy the outdoor space safely! Stop by this weekend and enjoy lunch, brunch, or a cocktail. Everything is better on a patio!
Bat 17
Don't have room for a sidewalk cafe? The new Bat 17 patio, located at 1709 Benson Ave., is taking advantage of some on-street parking spaces. The patio is officially open and ready for business! Their staff is taking the utmost precautions to ensure their patrons have a fun yet safe visit. Stop by for some good food and a cold one!
How can I submit a request for an outdoor dining area on public property (parking space, street, etc.)?
Restaurants interested in using public property for an outdoor dining area can propose their alternative location for an outdoor cafe, including on-street parking spaces, periodic street closures, off-street parking lots (including City-owned), and other public rights-of-way by submitting a sidewalk cafe permit application with a dimensioned site plan depicting chair and table placement and a short narrative describing planned public right-of-way.
