COVID-19 Testing Results Update for Kitsap County as of 12:30 p.m. Aug. 2

Social gatherings are one reason COVID-19 activity is high in Washington state. Fewer, shorter, safer interactions are absolutely crucial to preventing the spread of COVID-19. This is why the governor and Department of Health have restricted social gatherings to no more than 5 people for counties in Phase 2, including Kitsap.
Here are some quick reminders about in-person gatherings:
- Avoid touching surfaces where infected droplets from people talking, laughing, coughing or sneezing may have landed. This means no communal food or drinks and don’t share plates or utensils.
- Wash, wash, wash your hands. Use soap, wash for 20 seconds. Repeat frequently.
- Avoid close physical contact. Air hugs, air high fives and elbow bumps are safe ways to say hello and good-bye.
- Wear face coverings indoors at all times when not in your household. When outdoors, wear face coverings whenever you’re six feet apart or less.
- Practice compassion and enjoy your time together. Time with friends and family is precious and important for our physical and mental health. Protect each other during these tough times.

Job search requirement suspension extended to Sept. 1
Gov. Jay Inslee announced Friday the extension of 25 proclamations through Sept. 1, in response to the continuing COVID-19 pandemic. The extensions were approved by the state Legislature.
The extensions include job search requirements which will remain suspended through Sept. 1. This means the soonest claimants will be required to actively seek work is Sept. 6. You can continue to answer “no” to the job search question on your weekly claim until the suspension is lifted.

Disaster Cash Assistance Program update
The Department of Health and Human Services continues to offer the Disaster Cash Assistance Program. DCAP provides benefits for one month in a 12-month period, to low-income families and people without children who meet the income and resource limits of the program and who are not eligible for other cash assistance programs.
Benefits are excluded from public charge and a social security number is not required. Interested people can apply online at WashingtonConnection.org or by calling the Customer Service Contact Center at 877-501-2233 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Tuesday is election day! Drop by Vote Centers to register to vote, get a new ballot, deposit ballots or vote in person
Don't forget to send your ballot in - Tuesday, Aug. 4 is election day! If you'd rather bring it by one of the ballot drop boxes in the county, visit the link here for locations. The Auditor's Office also has three vote centers if you wish to vote in person, register to vote, update your address or get a new ballot, open Monday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and on Election Day from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
