Cases of coronavirus are rising and as a council we’re continuing to share key public health advice on how to minimise your risk of catching or spreading the disease. We welcome you sharing this with your friends and family too. Much of the advice is unchanged:
-
HANDS - Wash your hands regularly and for 20 seconds.
-
FACE - Wear a face covering in indoor settings where social distancing may be difficult, and where you will come into contact with people you do not normally meet.
-
SPACE - Stay two metres apart from people you do not live with where possible, or one metre with extra precautions in place (such as wearing face coverings or increasing ventilation indoors).
If you have symptoms, you should get a test. The main symptoms of coronavirus are a high temperature, a new, continuous cough and a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste. Most people with coronavirus have at least one of these symptoms.
If you have symptoms, you should immediately start to self-isolate while you apply for a test. We all need to play our part to protect the NHS Test and Trace service for those who really need it.

You can download the NHS Covid-19 app, part of the NHS Test and Trace service, from today.
The app, which is completely anonymous, will help you to quickly check if you have symptoms, order a test and check-in to venues by scanning a QR code.
Used alongside traditional contact tracing, the app will send you a notification if you come into contact with someone who later tests positive for coronavirus – with information about what action you need to take.
By choosing to download the app, you will be helping to stop the spread of coronavirus, keeping the borough safe and protecting your friends and loved ones.
The NHS App is available now on iOS and Android. To use it you must be aged 13 and over and registered with a GP surgery in England.
You can also access NHS App services from the browser on your desktop or laptop computer.
Many businesses, including places of worship are now legally required to display posters showing the QR code for the NHS Covid-19 app.
This includes all venues from the following sectors: hospitality, leisure and tourism, close contact services, places of worship and local authority venues.
Close contact services include hairdressers, barbers, beauticians, tattooists, sport and massage therapists, dress fitters, tailors and fashion designers.

Do you know anyone that deserves a big thank you for the work they did during the coronavirus crisis?
We have posted a video to show our appreciation for the hundreds of volunteers who helped out during the lockdown with deliveries of food and medicines, on our Facebook page.
If you know anyone, a work colleague or a friend, a group or a charity, that pulled out all the stops to help others go to our Facebook page, tag them in the comments on the video post to give them the recognition they deserve.
Before you put items into your recycling bin, please check that the items can be recycled otherwise we may not be able to empty your bin.
Check what you can and can’t recycle.
