HELP FOR AGES 16-24 LOOKING TO ENTER THE WORKFORCE
Workforce Solutions is offering paid virtual career readiness training for eligible youth and young adults during January 2021. This is open to those living in York, Cumberland, Sagadahoc, Lincoln, Knox and Waldo counties.
Participants will attend four weeks of career readiness training online, covering topics such as resume writing, interview prep, financial literacy, career exploration, finding success on the job, and more. This will be followed by individualized career services that can include paid work experience or support in transitioning to occupational training, including post-secondary education.

WAYFAIR TEAMS UP WITH COMMUNITY COLLEGE TO OFFER FREE CUSTOMER SERVICE TRAINING
Are you interested in learning professional skills to begin a career in customer service with a company in Brunswick? If so, register now for Southern Maine Community College’s Customer Service Consultant online training course.
The Wayfair company will conduct job interviews with qualified applicants upon successful completion of the training. Here are the class prerequisites:
Resident of Maine
At least 18
High School diploma, GED, or HiSet
Unemployed or under-employed
Proof of authorization to work in the US
Successful completion of Wayfair’s skills assessment
The jobs are remote for now, with the expectation that once it is deemed safe for Wayfair to open its Brunswick facility, all employees will be expected to report to work on-site. Wayfair provides the hardware required to perform the job, and candidates need to be able to hardwire in and meet certain internet connection speed requirements. The company will discuss all of these details with those who apply for the training.

FREE CNA TRAINING IN CENTRAL MAINE REGION
Eastern Maine Development Corporation is partnering with Skowhegan Adult Education and Mount Saint Joseph in Waterville to bring this opportunity for Certified Nursing Assistant training to Central Maine. Applications are due by Dec. 30, and the training includes:
90 hours of classroom
90 hours clinicals and labs
30 hours of academic and employability skills
Hands-on training at a local long-term care facility
Kennebec Valley Community College and the Harold Alfond Foundation are offering free training for people who want to work as heavy equipment operators, jobs in demand in many industries. The program will run Mondays and Wednesdays, Feb. 1 through April 16, 2021. Training will be both online and live equipment.
Training is available for Maine residents aged at least 18 who have a high school diploma or equivalent, and who are unemployed, underemployed or have been displaced from work by COVID. Please find the application form at

Wednesday Dec. 16, 10–11 a.m. Presentation: Veteran Hiring for Employers-Basic Training – MDOL Veterans Representatives Local Veteran Employment Representative Leo Deon will present on strategies and tactics useful to employers looking to hire Veterans. Topics be addressed include military culture & values, decoding the military discharge document (DD 214) in addition to interviewing Veterans. This is a “must attend” presentation for any business seeking to hire Veterans.
Wednesday Dec. 23, 10–11 a.m. Presentation: Maine National Guard Programming – Maine National Guard CW4 Carlo Paratore and CW3 Todd Libby will be delivering information about the history and mission of the Maine Army Guard. Benefits of belonging and then some mission specific technical experts from the field will give their perspective on being part of the Maine National Guard Team.
Creating and Navigating Your Maine JobLink Account: This free workshop demonstrates how to create and navigate a personalized jobseeker account, and is offered Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2-3 p.m. and Wednesdays from 9:30-11 a.m. Pre-registration is required.
