Honor the election with a great book about presidents, elections, or voting from our Presidential Inauguration Booklist!
How else to celebrate? Your kids can write to the new president and vice president. Share congratulations and maybe an issue your child wants them to address: President Joe Biden OR Vice President Kamala Harris, The White House, Office of the President OR Office of the Vice President, 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW, Washington, DC 20500.
Inauguration Crafts. You can make an American Flag Luminary or a Future Voter Button to get young ones excited about being civically engaged.
In the wake of recent unrest at the Capitol, we're sharing Scholastic's resources to use with your children to discuss any questions about rioting and safety. You can also check out our Anti-Racism book list for more resources.

Does your child need a challenge? Our favorite this week is the lemon volcano. You probably already have all the materials you need at home for this simple project. Using citrus to simulate the effect of a classic baking soda volcano, your kids can see the science in action!
Or try the Northern Lights Window Art project. You'll get a cheese grater a little messy as your kids grate crayons over wax paper. With the help of an adult who can use an iron, the melted crayons will turn into a beautiful craft reminiscent of the Northern Lights that you can hang from a window.
