Return to School Update

Dr. Brabrand presented a revised Return to School plan to the Board on Tuesday. After discussion and deliberation, the Board decided to pause the plan until more information regarding the timing of COVID-19 vaccinations is known and the community spread can be reevaluated.

The Board has directed Dr. Brabrand to provide an update in two weeks, to include Board discussion, and a full work session with an updated plan and timeline on February 2, 2021. Dr. Brabrand has committed to communicating any updates available prior to that time to the Board.

Until further notice, all in-person instruction is postponed. In addition, the previously scheduled change to bell schedules is delayed.

Dr. Brabrand will conduct a Return to School Town Hall on January 11th at 6 p.m.  He will be joined by Chief Operating Officer Marty Smith and an elementary school principal. Submit your questions in advance by email to returntoschool@fcps.edu or call in during the Town Hall at 1-800-231-6359. View the meeting on FCPS Cable Channel 99 (Verizon Channel 11) or the FCPS website.
