State announces transition to next phase of COVID-19 vaccination, expanding eligibility to more residents
Vaccine supplies are still limited and not everyone who qualifies for Phase 1B Tier 1 will be able to get vaccinated right away.
Gov. Jay Inslee announced on Monday, Jan. 18, that Washington state will begin transitioning to the next phase of COVID-19 vaccination, Phase 1B Tier 1.
This means more groups of people will able to get vaccinated:
- People 65 or older
-
People 50 and older who live in multigenerational households (a home where individuals from two or more generations reside, such as an elder and a grandchild)
- Find detailed guidance here.
People eligible for vaccination under Phase 1a can still get vaccinated. This includes healthcare workers, emergency medical responders, and long-term care residents and staff.
Please be aware that vaccine supplies are limited and not everyone who is eligible will be able to get vaccinated right away. More vaccine will be shipped to our state in coming weeks and everyone who wants a vaccine will be able to get one. Please be patient as vaccination efforts scale up in our community.
Healthcare organizations and pharmacies throughout our community are administering COVID-19 vaccine. Kitsap Public Health District is working with the Kitsap County Emergency Operations Center to open additional community vaccination clinics in January. These clinics will supplement the options offered by our healthcare system and help ensure equitable access to vaccine. We will share more information about these clinics as details are confirmed.
Check covidvaccinewa.org and kcowa.us/vaccine for information and updates.

KEEP FIGHTING COVID-19
The rollout of COVID-19 vaccine has begun in our community, but it will take months for vaccination to become available to the majority of Kitsap County residents. While we wait, remember to:
-
Continue fighting the spread of COVID-19 by practicing the "Three Ws":
-
Wear a mask
-
Wash your hands frequently
-
Watch your distance: stay at least 6 feet apart from people you don't live with
- Share accurate information about the COVID-19 vaccine and COVID-19 pandemic.
-
Stay informed about vaccine rollout and being ready to get vaccinated when eligible.
Thank you for doing your part to keep our community healthy!
