Community COVID test sits open MLK holiday Jan. 18
Testing is an important tool in our response to the coronavirus pandemic. The Kitsap Public Health District and Kitsap County Emergency Operations Center, in partnership with various community organizations, offer drive-through community COVID-19 testing sites at locations throughout Kitsap. The test site at the Kitsap County Fairgrounds will be open 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, Jan. 18, on the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday.
These community-based testing sites provide low-barrier testing options with short wait times for receiving test results. Testing is available regardless of health insurance status. A medical appointment is not required for testing. Advance registration and an appointment are required. Other COVID-19 test sites are listed here.

State of Innovation Challenge: An invitation to youth to design solutions for a post-COVID-19 future
Gov. Jay Inslee, Superintendent of Public Instruction Chris Reykdal, the STEM Education and Innovation Alliance, Career Connect Washington and community partners including 4-H Washington, announce the launch of the State of Innovation Challenge—a virtual, career-connected problem-solving challenge that invites Washington youth to design and share their own solutions to some of the biggest issues Washington’s employers and communities are facing. From COVID-19 testing, to mental healthcare for social distancing teens, to creating more sustainable schools, towns, and manufacturing centers for our post-COVID-19 future, the last 12 months have had no shortage of complex issues. Through the Challenge, students can explore these issues in depth, consider how they impact their communities, and work with teachers or other adult advisers to share with state leaders through the Challenge website.
As they design their Challenge solutions, youth will have opportunities to interact with industry leaders from fields like healthcare, manufacturing, technology, agriculture and hospitality to learn how these industries are addressing 2021’s challenges while also exploring their own future career path.
