COVID-19 vaccine clinic vaccinates more than 2,000 in first week; clinic will not reopen next week
After a successful first week of operations, we are disappointed to announce that the state did not allocate any COVID-19 vaccine to Kitsap Public Health District for the week Jan. 31-Feb. 6.
A community COVID-19 clinic operated by Kitsap Public Health District and the Kitsap County Operations Center vaccinated more than 2,000 patients in its opening week. The clinic ran extremely smoothly and we were able to administer all of the vaccine doses we had available.
In addition to the patients who registered through our website, our team helped book appointments more than 200 community members who did not have internet access or needed assistance completing the online form.
The successful launch is a testament to the hard work of our staff and volunteers, and generous support from St. Michael Medical Center, Kitsap County Medical Reserve Corps volunteers, Kitsap County Emergency Medical Services, and the Kitsap County Medical Society.
Thank you to everyone who contributed to the clinic and to everyone who signed up to get vaccinated.
Clinic will not open for the week of Jan. 31 - Feb. 6
After building positive momentum with a successful first week of operations, we are disappointed to announce that we are not able to reopen the clinic next week.
We were notified on Friday evening that the Washington State Department of Health, which allocates shipments of vaccine to healthcare providers, did not allocate any vaccine doses to Kitsap Public Health for the week of Jan. 31 - Feb. 6.
Kitsap Public Health will continue requesting vaccine allocations from the state. We will announce additional clinic openings as soon as we receive more vaccine to administer. Please sign up for updates.
To everyone who is still waiting to get their vaccine: Thank you for your patience and understanding. We know this process has been confusing and frustrating for many.
More vaccine is being produced and we expect supplies will increase in the coming weeks. Everyone who is eligible will be able to get vaccinated, but it will take time.
Other healthcare organizations may have vaccination appointments available. Please check the state's list of vaccine providers or call 1-800-525-0127.
KEEP FIGHTING COVID-19
COVID-19 vaccination is underway in our community, but it will take months for vaccination to become available to the majority of Kitsap County residents. While we wait, remember to:
-
Continue fighting the spread of COVID-19 by practicing the "Three Ws":
-
Wear a mask
-
Wash your hands frequently
-
Watch your distance: stay at least 6 feet apart from people you don't live with
- Share accurate information about the COVID-19 vaccine and COVID-19 pandemic.
-
Stay informed about vaccine rollout and be ready to get vaccinated when eligible.
Thank you for doing your part to keep our community healthy!
