Don’t let the Super Bowl become a Super Spreader
We saw COVID-19 cases in Kitsap rise dramatically after the holidays. With vaccine distribution underway and a downward trend in COVID, there are hopeful signs we’re making progress on getting the virus under control. This year don’t let the Super Bowl become a Super Spreader!
Gathering virtually or with the people you live with is the safest way to celebrate. Kitsap County is currently in Phase 1 of the Roadmap to Recovery, which prohibits indoor gatherings with people outside your household. Outdoor gatherings are allowed with up to 10 people from outside your household.
Here are some tips to help you plan for Sunday.
- Host a virtual Super Bowl watch party.
- Wear clothing or decorate your home with your favorite team’s logo or colors.
- Make appetizers or snacks with the people you live with to enjoy while watching the game and share the recipes with your friends and family.
- Start a text group with other fans to chat about the game while watching.
- Attend an outdoor viewing party where viewers can sit six feet apart.
- Use a projector screen to broadcast the game.

New ventilators protect first responders, healthcare providers in treatment and transport of COVID patients
The Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act provided needed support to Kitsap County for a wide range of pandemic response efforts. While local vaccination clinics and community-based testing sites are among the most visible CARES-funded initiatives, a project involving public emergency medical services (EMS) providers is making a difference behind the scenes for responders and the public alike.
Twenty state-of-the-art portable ventilators that support respiration in the most seriously-ill patient were recently purchased on behalf of EMS services. Outfitted with filters that trap pathogens like the coronavirus, the ventilators protect EMS personnel and healthcare providers during treatment and transport of COVID-19 patients.
Kitsap County Department of Emergency Management Director Elizabeth Klute noted, “The pandemic has given us the opportunity to work closely with our first responder partners and, through the CARES Act funding, help provide for the safety of both the public and our critical responders.”

New hours for Bremerton drive-thru COVID-19 test site
The COVID-19 test site, located at Kitsap Conference Center at Bremerton Harborside Parking Garage, has changed hours of operation from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesdays.
For more information on all Kitsap County community-based COVID-19 test site locations and hours, visit kcowa.us/covidtesting. (Información en español, sa Tagalog) Individuals without internet access or who need help registering can call the Kitsap Public Health District at (360) 728-2235, Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Testing is made available by Kitsap Public Health District and Kitsap County Emergency Operations Center, in partnership with various community organizations.
