Health District update: The Kitsap Public Health Board meets virtually Tuesday, Mar. 2, from 10:30 a.m. to noon. See the meeting agenda to provide comment. In addition to Zoom, the meeting is broadcast live on Comcast channel 12, WAVE Broadband channel 3, the BKAT website, and the Kitsap Public Health District page on Facebook.

Plan ahead for your COVID-19 vaccine and talk to your healthcare provider if you have questions. The Washington State Department of Health offers more information on vaccine safety and effectiveness here, including frequently asked questions here.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention also answers questions on what happens before, during, and after your appointment to get vaccinated. These tips will help you know what to expect when you get vaccinated, what information your provider will give you, and resources you can use to monitor your health after you are vaccinated. Use the V-safe tool to tell the CDC about side effects
Use your smartphone to tell the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) about any side effects after getting the COVID-19 vaccine with the V-safe after-vaccine health checker. You’ll also get reminders if you need a second vaccine dose.
V-safe is a smartphone-based tool that uses text messaging and web surveys to provide personalized health check-ins after you receive a COVID-19 vaccine. Through V-safe, you can quickly tell CDC if you have any side effects after getting the COVID-19 vaccine. Depending on your answers, someone from CDC may call to check on you and get more information. V-safe will also remind you to get your second COVID-19 vaccine dose if you need one.

Vaccination demographics data added to Department of Health's COVID-19 dashboard
The Washington State Department of Health (DOH) added data on vaccination by race, ethnicity and age to the COVID-19 dashboard. To see the data, click on the Vaccinations tab at the top of the dashboard, then select “Who is getting vaccinated?” directly below.
These data were initially released in a report on Feb. 11 and include:
- Percentage of people in each age group who have been vaccinated
- Race/ethnicity of people 65 and older who have had at least one dose of vaccine and who are fully vaccinated, with a comparison to the Washington population 65 and older
- Race/ethnicity of people of all ages who have had at least one dose of vaccine and who are fully vaccinated, with a comparison to the total Washington population
DOH leaders explained the data and what the state is doing to address inequities at a recent media briefing. The department is committed to ensuring equitable vaccine distribution, and continues to gather and implement feedback from the communities, partners and sectors most impacted by COVID-19 on an ongoing basis.
