Dear Washingtonians,
For over a year, we have been in this together. Now, by getting our community vaccinated, we can recover and heal together.
On Monday, April 12 - in just a few days - all DC residents 16 and older will be eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine in Washington, DC. I am asking all residents to pre-register right now so that as soon as a vaccination appointment is available, we can reach out to you.
And I know I've said it many times before, but please help us spread the word about how to pre-register and the importance of getting vaccinated. While we have been knocking on doors, making phone calls, sending out mailers, and so much more, we know that for many people, especially people who may be nervous to get vaccinated, the best and most effective communication comes from the people closest to them.
Make sure your friends and family know:
- The vaccines are safe and very effective
- The vaccines are free for everyone
- You can pre-register for an appointment by going to vaccinate.dc.gov or by calling 1-855-363-0333

 This week, Mayor Bowser met with public school leaders and shared updates to the uniform per student funding formula (UPSFF) as well as her vision for the upcoming school year.
The Mayor announced that her Fiscal Year 2022 budget proposal will include a 3.6% increase to the UPSFF foundation level, for a total of more than $2 billion to serve an estimated 98,528 students in DC’s traditional public schools and public charter schools. In addition to this local investment, Mayor Bowser announced that the District will receive from the American Rescue Plan a third round of Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief funds totaling over $386 million.
Additionally, the Mayor shared that in the fall of 2021, she expects all public schools in Washington, DC to fully open for in-person learning, five days a week, with all educators back in the classroom.

 On Thursday, April 15, the DC Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) is hosting an online information session to help people learn about the 500+ positions that DPR will fill for Summer 2021.
This virtual town hall will feature an overview of specific summer positions within various departments like:
- Aquatics
- Camps
- Food & Nutrition
- Roving Leaders
- Community Recreation

 EdFuel, the Office of the Deputy Mayor for Education, and the DC Public Charter School Board will host a two-day, citywide DC Virtual Teacher Recruitment Fair on Wednesday, April 21 and Thursday, April 22, from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.
The fair is geared toward both current and prospective teachers and will allow candidates to connect virtually with DC-based schools, educator preparation programs, and District-wide support agencies.
