This week, we launched a new $350 million program to help DC residents pay their rent and utility bills. The program, STAY DC, provides financial assistance to residents unable to pay rent and/or utilities due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Through STAY DC, the District will:
- Pay unpaid rent going back to April 1, 2020;
- Pay forward rent, up to 3 months at a time;
- Pay for water, gas, and electricity expenses on your behalf, and
- Provide extended housing support for up to 18 months, per tenant.
We encourage anyone who is struggling to pay their rent or utility bills to visit stay.dc.gov or call 833-4-STAYDC from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. We do not want a situation where the public health emergency ends and suddenly we have residents who owe thousands of dollars in back rent and bills.

 Beginning Monday, April 19, DC residents who are 65 and older will be able to get vaccinated without an appointment at walk-up sites across DC. Each site, which will administer either the two-dose Pfizer vaccine or the two-dose Moderna vaccine, will be able to accommodate up to 30 walk-in appointments each day. Residents 65 and older can walk up during the days and times listed below while appointments last.
The appointments at the Bald Eagle Recreation Center are limited to residents from Wards 7 and 8 and are open to any resident from those two wards who is 18 or older.

 On March 29, the District opened its online health insurance marketplace, DC Health Link, with all expanded health insurance benefits provided by the American Rescue Plan. The American Rescue Plan reduces premiums for health insurance through DC Health Link, provides health insurance for as little as $2/month to people who lost their jobs, and pays for 100% of COBRA premiums for laid-off workers.
DC Health Link automatically lowered premiums for customers who already provided income information. District residents who currently pay full price for coverage on DC Health Link should log in to their DCHealthLink.com account and provide income information in order to receive new monthly premium reductions.
