Temporary Pause of Johnson & Johnson's Janssen Vaccine

Out of an abundance of caution, on April 13, the CDC and FDA recommended a temporary pause in the use of the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine. Of more than 7.2 million doses administered nationally, there have been six reported cases of a rare and severe type of blood clot with symptoms occurring 6 to 13 days after vaccination. In these cases, a type of blood clot called cerebral venous sinus thrombosis (CVST) was seen in combination with low levels of blood platelets (thrombocytopenia). All six cases occurred among women between the ages of 18 and 48. More about California’s response can be found here.

Lake Tahoe Fun Facts

As we are all gearing up for another great Tahoe summer, it seems that mother nature has other plans. This week the Tahoe Basin was surprised with up to 12 inches of snow in some places. Even with ski resorts closing soon, this latest storm provided a few more days of good turns and spring skiing.
