Minimum Wage
Effective July 1, 2021, the Montgomery County minimum wage will rise to $15 per hour for employers with 51 or more employees, $14 per hour for employers with 50 or fewer employees and $13.50 per hour for businesses with 10 or fewer employees. Learn more.

Grant Programs
Nonprofit Assistance Program
The Montgomery County Economic Development Corporation will accept applications for this program from July 6 - 16, 2021. Competitively-selected grants ranging from $10,000 to $20,000 will be awarded to Montgomery County nonprofits whose work aligns with the state’s intent to assist community organizations that create and sustain jobs. Coronavirus Economic Relief for Transportation Services (CERTS) Program
This program supports transportation service providers affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, including motorcoach, school bus, passenger vessel, and pilot vessel companies. The CERTS program provides eligible transportation service companies with resources to help to maintain payroll, hire back employees who may have been laid off, and cover applicable overhead and operational expenses. The CERTS portal will be open for applications through July 19, 2021. Learn more.
Shots at the Shop
The Black Coalition Against COVID, SheaMoisture, the University of Maryland Center for Health Equity and the Biden Administration are partnering to increase COVID-19 vaccine awareness, education and engagement. Up to 1,000 barbershops and beauty salons across the country will receive a $1,000.00 grant from SheaMoisture to participate in the Shots at the Shop initiative. Learn more.

End to COVID-19 State of Emergency in Maryland
The State of Maryland COVID-19 state of emergency ends today (July 1, 2021). Emergency mandates and restrictions are terminated and there are no longer any statewide mask orders in effect for any settings. Some regulations will continue to be relaxed for a 45-day grace period. There are no local mandates in effect, although businesses can enforce their own requirements. Learn more.

Legacy Businesses & Milestone Anniversaries
Montgomery County is celebrating Small Business Summer by recognizing legacy businesses and companies marking milestone anniversaries. Businesses that have been operating for 25 years or more will be recognized as a Montgomery County Legacy Business. We will also acknowledge milestone anniversaries for businesses that have been in operation for 5, 10, 15 or 20 years. Share Your Story.
