Did You Know!

The Maine Department of Labor as well as our state and local workforce investment system partners offer many services to help businesses and workers deal with the effects of layoffs and plant closures, including those that result from increased competition from imports, natural disasters, and other events.

Many communities in Maine have a Chamber of Commerce.  The primary goal of any Chamber is to help further the interest of small businesses in their area. Activities range from hosting events (new business openings or professional networking events), lobbying local representatives or even holding charitable events for the betterment of the community.

Maine’s seven community colleges are keeping in-state tuition flat for the pending academic year. The Finance Authority of Maine, which administers the Maine State Grant, has also extended the deadline to apply for the 2021-22 academic year.

The Maine Community College System has agreements with more than 75 Maine businesses and industry associations that provide expanded workforce training opportunities and discounted tuition.

The best way to open yourself to business opportunities is through professional networking. It helps you meet prospective clients, get ahead in a competitive job market, and gain better access to career resources. According to professional networking statistics, you can boost your chances of landing a new job through networking.
